The Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) proudly presents Ngirramanujuwal: The Art and Country of Jimmy Pike at Government House, Perth (30 May – 2 June 2023).

We are calling for expressions of interest from groups of two-to-three people working together on their language.

AIATSIS is leading the Return of Cultural Heritage project which is seeking to return cultural heritage material from overseas.

AIATSIS welcomes the announcement that Aranda people of Central Australia and Bardi Jawi people of the northern Dampier Peninsula in Western Australia will have 42 culturally significant objects returned from overseas.

In 2016, AIATSIS acquired a tiny woven object only 16cm in diameter for our Art and Object Collection. Its small size belies the complex story behind its creation.
