Between 2020 and 2025, the Indigenous Research Exchange (IRX) funded a diverse catalogue of projects through a series of grant rounds.

These grants were designed to strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research leadership and support the continuation and revitalisation of Indigenous knowledge systems.

The program prioritised Indigenous-led research that responded to community-identified needs, fostered meaningful collaboration, and promoted ethical, impactful, and culturally grounded research practices.

By investing in Indigenous researchers and communities, the IRX grants program advanced self-determination, built research capacity, and ensured that Indigenous voices remained central to shaping Australia’s research landscape.
