Since 2016, AIATSIS has contributed to a number of reviews of the CATSI Act including the Technical Review of the CATSI Act (2017), CATSI Review Phase 1 (2020) and CATSI Review Phase 2 (2020). Following from the 2020 CATSI Act Review Final Report, the National Indigenous Australians Agency has released an exposure draft of a Bill to amend the CATSI Act.

AIATSIS' submission reinforces AIATSIS’ feedback from previous submissions and provides specific feedback on the terms of the Exposure Draft, particularly as they relate to a separate chapter for RNTBCs, non-discrimination, criminal offences, special administration, membership rules, the classification of corporations and rulebooks.
