Taylor welcomes appointment to Lowitja Board

AIATSIS Principal, Russell Taylor has welcomed his appointment to the Lowitja Institute Board of Directors. The appointment was announced by the Chairperson of the Lowitja Institute Pat Anderson on the 9th of December 2013.
Russell Taylor, a Kamilaroi man with family connection to La Perouse in Sydney and to traditional country in the New England area of NSW, has more than 20 years’ experience in various public sector Senior Executive Service positions. “I am delighted to serve on the Lowitja Institute Board of Directors because of its unique role as Australia’s only national health research organisation with a sole focus on the health and wellbeing of our people.” Mr Taylor said. “I welcome the opportunity to facilitate important partnerships between our people, AIATSIS, world-leading researchers, policy makers and experts that work towards achieving equity in the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.”
The Lowitja Institute Board of Directors oversees the implementation of national research programs focused on improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health The Board majority Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander membership and comprises highly skilled and experienced health sector professionals.
Russell Taylor is also a member of the University of Technology (UTS) Council, member of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Higher Education Advisory Council and holds a Master of Business Administration and Graduate Diploma in Public Sector Management (UTS) and Graduate Diploma in Arts from the Australian National University ANU.
