The latest issue of Australian Aboriginal Studies is now available in print and digital formats. In its 42nd year of publication, Australian Aboriginal Studies is a peer-reviewed multidisciplinary journal that publishes research on topics of significance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the wider humanities and social sciences academic community.
The second issue of 2025 contains five articles exploring topics as diverse as sovereignty and land law, the cultural appropriateness of reviewing boarding school literature, Australia’s original archive records, the return of cultural heritage items and Indigenous research methodologies in the field.
This issue also features a photospread of largely unpublished photographs recording the Gurindji land handback by Prime Minister Gough Whitlam 50 years ago, and three book reviews, including Claire Smith’s review of Michelle Langley’s book A Record in Stone, which recently won the John Mulvaney Book Award from the Australian Archaeological Association.
