‘Knowledge-holders, creators, inventors, provocateurs’… Australian Aboriginal Studies Issue 2, 2020 is a Special Edition that explores the AIATSIS 2020-2021 theme ‘Brilliant: Indigenous genius, then and now’.

This issue celebrates and showcases the sheer brilliance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, philosophies, achievements, adaptive societies, and contribution to the making of our nation.

The edition includes a thought provoking editorial on Indigenous brilliance from the AIATSIS CEO, Craig Ritchie. It also features searing commentary on data sovereignty, major articles on the innovative Mayi Kuwayu health study and cultural indicators, Country and its role in schooling as well as innovations in research processes and ethics.
