1. Sustainability / Sustainable futures (Caring for land and sea Country) – Understanding of the deep spiritual and cultural connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with their ancestral lands and water and how it influences their ways of being, knowing and doing. 
    
2. Rights, Recognition and Representation (Native title, land rights, ICIP, etc.) - Leveraging Traditional Owner rights for recognition and representation, locally, regionally, and nationally.
    
3. Cultural revitalisation and resurgence – Celebrating the strength, depth, and brilliance of the oldest continuous living culture in the world. 
    
4. Intergenerational Knowledge – Recognising the invaluable knowledge, traditions and practices handed down from Elders and ancestors and how they shape the present and future. 
    
5. Contemporary Innovations – Celebrating the contemporary contributions and innovations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and practices in various fields, including arts, education, and governance.

Summit 2025 Co-host

Summit 2025 will be hosted in partnership with Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation (LNAC) who is one of Darwin's leading community service organisations. The Larrakia Nation has grown strong in recent years and delivers a wide range of programs and services across the Darwin region. LNAC is one of the largest not-for-profit, non-government employers of Aboriginal people in Darwin.

Upon standard registrations opening in April 2025, there will be pricing options available for a youth ticket and concession rates, as well as registrations for speakers.

Calling all Larrakia artists

To commemorate the 2025 AIATSIS Summit and its co-host Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation, AIATSIS is seeking submissions from Larrakia artists for the 2025 Summit Merchandise Artwork Design Competition.

The winning artwork will be utilised on a range of AIATSIS Summit 2025 outputs, including merchandise (delegate t-shirts) and printed programs.

Artworks need to be a digital design of 2MB or greater (vector file format preferred).

A prize of $1,500 will be paid to the winning artist with a subsequent payment made to the winning artist for each Summit delegate t-shirt printed and sold. This includes t-shirts given to delegates as part of their registration package.

Submissions close 4:00pm (ACST) on Friday 31 January 2025.

Call for abstracts will open in November 2024 and close in late January 2025. Further details and information will be available shortly.

Sponsored delegate applications will open in January 2025. Applications are open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants and/or speakers seeking to attend the AIATSIS Summit 2025 at the Darwin Convention Centre, from 2-6 June 2025 in Garramilla (Darwin).

Sponsorship provides full registration, including the social events, flights, accommodation, meals and a travel allowance for the week.

Priority will be given to applicants who meet one or more of the following categories:

• The applicant has had an abstract to present at Summit accepted*;
• The applicant is a Chair/Director of a Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC); and,
• The applicant is attending the youth stream.

Previously having received sponsorship to attend Summits may have bearing on the consideration of the current application for sponsorship.

* Speakers seeking to be sponsored are required to apply during the submission period. Applications will be assessed in conjunction with their abstract.
