Developing guidelines for managing information in native title
Over the past 20 years, the native title regime has seen millions of dollars invested in research about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures. The information assets produced by native title research are of considerable value to present and future generations of native title holders, as well as to the Australian community more generally. This workshop will combine research, collections and community expertise and will focus on the development of national guidelines that would assist in returning materials to the native title holders for future use. The workshop will be targeted towards particular areas of the draft guidelines: information management systems, security of material, and access to material.
