Summary
This Act designates certain forest as Future Potential Production Forest Land. It also provides that no native forest harvesting can be undertaken on the designated land, except for approved special species timber harvesting.
This Act does specifically apply to native title land however, it does recognise a role for Aboriginal people in the management of these forests. The Act includes as one of its objectives:
'to encourage cooperative management programs with Aboriginal people in areas of significance to them in a manner consistent with the purposes of reservation and the other management objectives.'
