The Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) Enterprise Agreement 2018-2021 was formally signed by bargaining representatives this week.
After nearly five years and significant effort from all bargaining parties, 84% of staff took part in the successful ballot which resulted in an 80% ‘Yes’ vote.
AIATSIS CEO Craig Ritchie acknowledged that the bargaining had been extensive and collaborative, and all parties had demonstrated a strong commitment to obtaining the best possible outcome for staff throughout the process.
“It’s been a long and sometimes difficult road to get to the point we are today. I want to thank everyone who was involved in the process, who participated fully, forthrightly and effectively. I’d also like to thank all those that took the time to vote and register their view,” Mr Ritchie said.
Present at the signing were AIATSIS CEO, Craig Ritchie, individual bargaining representative, Dr Tran Tran, and bargaining representative for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Caucus, Kayannie Denigan.
The Agreement will now be lodged with the Fair Work Commission for approval.
