ANIRC program now available

The 2019 AIATSIS National Indigenous Research Conference (ANIRC) full program is now available.

Co-convened with QUT, the conference will be held at QUT’s Gardens Point campus in Brisbane over three days, Monday 1 to Wednesday 3 July.

The 2019 theme is Research for the 21st century and will build on previous themes of impact and engagement, to explore the interweaving strands of capacity of research and the transformative capability of Indigenous research.

The conference will draw together researchers, policymakers, cultural and collecting institutions, the corporate sector, and Indigenous organisations and communities to consider the capacity of the research sector to meet the needs of Indigenous policy and community into the future.

Program highlights

Delivering Indigenous Data Sovereignty plenary panel session with Professor Maggie Walter, Associate Professor Ray Lovett, Associate Professor Gawaian Bodkin-Andrews, Dr Vanessa Lee and Professor Tahu Kukutai.
The International Year of Indigenous Languages Public Lecture which will incorporate the launch of the Ngarinyman dictionary.
Conference entertainment including Chris Tamwoy for the opening reception, Gala Dinner performances by Malu-Kiai Mura Buai Torres Strait Islander Dance Company, Emily Warramara and CKNU, with comedian Leon Filewood hosting the evening.
