Native Title and agreement making in the mining industry: Focusing on outcomes for Indigenous peoples

There is an increasing emphasis in Australia on agreement making as a means of dealing with issues surrounding Native Title. However, little is known about the impact of agreement making on Indigenous people.

In this paper, Professor Ciaran O’Faircheallaigh discusses the value of identifying both the positive and negative outcomes of agreement making on Indigenous people, possible criteria for measuring such outcomes, and the difficulties involved in identifying and measuring outcomes.
