An office for advocacy and accountability in Aboriginal affairs in Western Australia

In this submission, AIATSIS supports the establishment of an independent office for advocacy and accountability in Aboriginal affairs in Western Australia. AIATSIS submits that such an independent authority will provide a necessary and independent assessment of accountability of government in Aboriginal affairs in Western Australia. It will also ensure meaningful, culturally appropriate engagement with Aboriginal people and allow for more effective use of data and evaluation which will promote better coordination across agencies and departments.
