Investment, employment and looking after Country can be achieved through carbon farming, however, it has become evident that waiting for the government to solve our agribusiness issues is simply not going to benefit Traditional Owners. The voluntary carbon market is becoming a viable alternative which does not rely upon the lowest cost of abatement and places a value on co-benefits.

The development of the Fair Carbon initiative is designed to:

Provide a stable market place.
Provide consumers of carbon credits an opportunity to address climate change.
Set a progressive framework for production and trade to be economically fair, socially responsible and environmentally beneficial.

Developing a domestic scheme suited to our particular requirements with linkages to international schemes will be of benefit for traditional land owning and other groups involved in carbon farming.
