2016 National Native Title Conference
Only two Land Councils, the Northern Land Council and the Central Land Council, existed at the time the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 came into effect on 26 January 1977.
The Tiwi Land Council was subsequently established in 1978; the Anindilyakwa Land Council was established in 1991.
The Chairmen of each of the four land councils assemble to talk about the history of land rights: Samuel Bush-Blanasi (NLC), Tony Wurramarrba (ALC), Francis Jupurrurla Kelly (CLC), and Gibson Farmer Illortaminni (TLC).
