Summary
The purpose of this Act is to improve the administration of the Land Act 1994 and the Land Title Act 1994 to improve their operation and reduce inconsistencies, redundant requirements and duplication. As part of this the subdivision of Indigenous deeds of grant in trust (DOGITs) will be streamlined.
Section 34P will be amended to remove the requirement for Ministerial approval under the Land Act for subdivisions of DOGIT land. DOGIT land will be managed solely under the Aboriginal Land Act 1991 and Torres Strait Island Land Act 1991.
