Date range: 1970-1974 Extent: .18 metres (1 box) This collection consists of three bound volumes of typescript journal entries and field notes, by Bruce Shaw, on the township of Kununurra. These were deposited in AIATSIS Library by Shaw in the late 1970s. Bruce Shaw was born in Adelaide, South Australia, in 1941 and studied social anthropology at the University of Western Australia in the 1960s. His acquaintanceship with several Indigenous Australians in 1970 kindled his interest in recording their memories and in 1973 he began collecting life stories. For six years Shaw was a lecturer in social anthropology at the Darwin Community College (now University of the Northern Territory).
