Andrew Walter is the Assistant Secretary of the Civil Law Unit in the Australian Government Attorney General’s Department. The Civil Law Unit provides advice to Government on a wide range of legal policy issues, including: native title, human rights, privacy, freedom of information, bankruptcy, personal property securities, and private international law. A lawyer by training, Andrew joined the Department in 2002 and has worked in a variety of policy and strategy roles. Andrew is the Chair of the Council of General Affairs and Policy of the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
