Leann Wilson

Leann Wilson, descendent of the Bidjara and Kara-Kara peoples in central and central-western Queensland. Her passion for her people has resonated with the broader community and has seen Leann appointed to regional, state and national boards including The Queensland Divisional Board Australian Red Cross Board, The Healing Foundation, The Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts, and The YWCA Queensland. A former long-term senior public servant and graduate, and former board member of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF), Leann has been a finalist in the Queensland Telstra Business Woman of the Year awards and has been the recipient of The Queensland Centenary Medal. In 2016 Leann, with Bond University and the Alliance of Girls' Schools Australasia, was awarded the Queensland Premier’s Reconciliation Award for the “Women Yarning Up” program. They also were “Highly Commended” in the Partnership category for the same program. In March 2017 Leann, was selected by Senator Michaelia Cash, to attended the United Nations CSW61 event in New York. Leann attended at a non-government delegate and was selected due to her extensive knowledge and experience, specifically in ‘Empowerment of Indigenous women’ – a key topic of the CSW61 event
