Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Mabo Decision

A schedule of events from 2-3 June commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the landmark High Court of Australia Mabo decision will be held in and around Townsville.

Mabo Festival / Celebrating 25 years

The Mabo family invite you to join in the celebrations to commemorate the 25 years since the history land mark case that changed native title across Australia.

The event will be held at Jezzine Barracks and will feature Shane Howard (Goanna), John Butler, Rochelle Pitt + Big T, Neil Murray and Deline Briscoe.

Hosted by Ian Zaro and Jo Williams this is a day not to be missed!

Take the opportunity to enjoy the taste of the Torres Strait and soak up a cultural culinary experience.

Bonita MABO and her family would like to extend an invitation to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the MABO day decision.  Join them in Townsville on Sunday 4 June 2017, to attend a dinner to honour Koiki’s Mabo’s land rights journey and celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the historic Mabo decision being held in the heartland of where it all began. This dinner is part of a celebration that pays tribute to the late Eddie ‘Koiki’ Mabo who tirelessly campaigned for land rights through the Australian Courts culminating 10-years later in the legal doctrine of terra nullius being overturned.

Featuring guest speakers, The Hon Linda Burney MP, Jeff McMullen AO. Entertainment throughout the evening including the opportunity to meet our MABO Ambassadors Patrick Johnson, Dave Peachey & Anthony Mundine.

Ticket price includes dinner, wine, beer and soft drinks until 9pm (purchase your own alcohol/drinks until 11.30pm) and featuring a sumptuous Torres Strait Island Buffet.
