Dr Beau Austin

Position:
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Beau is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at RIEL, CDU. He is currently working on an ARC-funded project titled: Integrating Measures of Indigenous Land and Sea Management Effectiveness. This project seeks to develop measures of the effectiveness of Indigenous land and sea management on its biophysical, cultural, social and economic objectives for both people and the environment. As Indigenous people across Australia have been saying for a long time, land and sea management produces many significant social, cultural and livelihood benefits for local communities in addition to increased biodiversity, reduced carbon emissions and threatened species protection. Beau is working with Indigenous land and sea managers to develop plans for Country and monitoring and evaluation tools to measure ‘success’.
